CATEGORY I5: SLAVES IN THE EAST INDIA COLONIES

 

The Statute Law Revision Programme considers the instruments in this category to be suitable for revocation.

 

This category consists of a proclamation commanding people who were enslaved in the British Empire’s colonies in East India to submit to the laws. The instrument was made pursuant to prerogative authority.

 

The Statute Law Revision Programme consulted with the Department of Foreign Affairs on the instruments in this category. The Department agreed that the instrument was suitable for revocation.
