Commissioners

The Law Reform Commission comprises 5 Commissioners, the President and 4 other Commissioners (one appointed on a full-time basis). In accordance with the Law Reform Commission Act 1975, the Commissioners are appointed by the Government for a term of up to 5 years and their appointment may be renewed.

Decision Making Process of the Commission

The Commission makes recommendations to Government on the content of a draft Programme of Law Reform, determines the contents of the research output of the Commission (contained in Consultation Papers, Issues Papers and Reports), and makes key administrative and financial decisions. The Commission meets formally as a body at least 10 times each year.

The Commissioners are supported by its staff, comprising the Director of Research, the Access to Legislation Manager, Head of Administration and Head of Corporate Affairs, together with 2 Deputy Directors of Research, 2 Deputy Access to Legislation Managers, the Library and Information Manager, a senior software specialist, 10 legal researchers and 4 administrative staff.
