Revised Acts

The Law Reform Commission publishes Revised Acts as part of its mission of keeping the law under review and accessible. It has published over 550 Revised Acts to date.

What is a Revised Act?

A Revised Act is an Act updated with changes made by amending legislation.  It is known as an administrative consolidation.  Many Acts are amended to reflect new policies and to keep the law up to date with changes in society.  A Revised Act will show you the up to date position.

What Acts have been Revised?

The Commission has published over 550 Revised Acts, which you can see listed here. These include:

  • Around 190 pre-2004 Acts, such as the Planning and Development Act 2000, which were requested or selected as being frequently used; and
  • All Acts enacted from 2004 onwards that have been textually amended, with the exception of the Finance Acts.

The list of Revised Acts includes many of the most-used Acts that remain in force in the State.  Previous versions of Revised Acts can be seen by clicking the triangular symbol at the right hand side of the listing.
