Access to Legislation

A vital component of the Commission's work involves making legislation more accessible to the public. The Commission produces and maintains several different databases and tools to enable this, all of which are available free online.

Legislation Directory

The Legislation Directory is a publicly available index which tracks changes to primary legislation from the pre and post 1922 periods, and changes to secondary legislation from 1972 onwards.

Revised Acts

A Revised Act is an administrative consolidation of that Act. It brings together in a single text all amendments and changes to an Act, making the law more accessible for all users.

Classified List of In-Force Acts

The Classified List is a searchable list of in-force Acts and statutory instruments organised under 36 subject headings, such as Commercial Law, Criminal Law, Employment Law, Environment, Family Law, Land Law, Taxation.

Statute Law Revision Programme

The Statute Law Revision Programme reviews pre-1922 legislation to determine which laws should be retained and which should be revoked. This ensures Ireland’s statute book is up to date, accurate, and accessible to the public.
