CATEGORY L1: COUNTY BOUNDARIES
The Statute Law Revision Programme considers the instruments in this category to be suitable for revocation.
This category consists of orders revising county boundaries and/or the boundaries of other denominations of land for Counties Tyrone, Antrim, Fermanagh, Down, Derry and Armagh. The instruments were made pursuant to the Boundary Survey (Ireland) Act 1854 (17 & 18 Vict.) c. 17, the Boundary Survey (Ireland) Act 1857 (20 & 21 Vict.) c. 45 and the Boundary Survey (Ireland) Act 1859 (22 & 23 Vict.) c. 48.[i]
The Statute Law Revision Programme consulted with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Ordnance Survey Ireland and the Valuation Office on the instruments in this category. All bodies agreed that the instruments were suitable for revocation.
Please note that spellings are recorded as they appear in the original print versions of the Dublin Gazette and have not been standardised or modernised. The wording of the subject matter of instruments is not final and is subject to change.

[i] The Boundary Survey (Ireland) Acts have been scheduled for repeal at Head 5 of the General Scheme of the Tailte Éireann Bill. As this repeal would automatically disenable these instruments in any case, the Statute Law Revision Programme is recommending these instruments for revocation. (Revocation of an instrument does not undo the legality of that instrument’s effect. The boundaries of these counties will not revert to their pre-instrument status post-revocation).
